Moteurs Baudouin – Carmet Tug

2021

Carmet decided to use Baudouin engines in our work boat due to their reputation as a robust power unit. This is apparent when the engines are used in so many fishing vessels around the coast. These engines are wonderfully basic without all the high-tech sensors and senders which inevitably create issues in later life.

It was extremely easy to retrofit the engines with the adaptation of the mounts and exhausts. The connection to the existing gearbox was made easy with some advice from Proteum which was readily given.

These engines have been a great success in the harsh environment of a busy work boat. There have been no issues from the outset and they do everything that we expected and hoped for. The vessel has far more power with less noise and pollution than previously. The quality of build is evident.

It is a testament to the quality that we have not had to call on the supplier, Proteum, since the engines have been fitted but to their credit they contact us regularly to check that all is well. This would indicate to me that should we have a problem they would sort it as soon as possible.

The Fosser is a Multi-Role Vessel weighing 5T with a speed of 9Kn, it is classified as an MCA Workboat Code Cat 2/60
